Objective: One of the greatest humanitarian crises in recent years was the COVID-19 crisis, which in 2019 affected all economic sectors of the world, including Iran, especially tourism businesses. This epidemic caused a recession in travel agency businesses and, consequently, unemployment among women working in these agencies. The present study aimed to investigate the resilience of women working in travel agencies in Tehran during the COVID-19 era.
Methods: This research is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive-analytical in terms of method. The statistical population of the research is women working in these offices in 2023 and the sample size is calculated based on the Cochran formula equal to 366 women. To analyze the significance level, a one-sample t-test was used and to analyze the effectiveness of each resilience criterion, a path analysis model was used.
Results: The low scores of institutional-managerial, economic, social, and physical-environmental criteria indicate the dissatisfaction of women in this field in the dimensions of resilience. Also, in terms of prioritizing the degree of impact, individual characteristics with a beta coefficient of 0.933, economic criteria with a beta coefficient of 0.558, social criteria with a beta coefficient of 0.349, institutional-managerial criteria with a beta coefficient of 0.343, and finally physical-environmental criteria with a beta coefficient of 0.262 affect the resilience of women in offices.
Conclusions: Given the importance and prominent role of women in the field of tourism and travel agencies and consequently the development of the country, women's dissatisfaction with resilience indicators, especially economic and social indicators, is quite evident. Also, after the criteria of individual characteristics, institutional-management criteria play a significant role in increasing the resilience of women working in these offices.
